林進祐,1948年出生於彰化縣埤頭鄉,家中擁有閩南八音團、南管團,在環境熏陶之下從小便喜好傳統音樂。1988年取得音樂教育碩士學位,並赴日本學習音樂理論與作曲。其作品《菩薩蠻》、《山旅》(鋼琴組曲)曾獲得文建會獨唱(奏)曲創作獎,電影配樂《末日世界》曾獲得臺北電影節最佳動畫片。此外,林進祐在音樂教育的紮根上亦不遺餘力,其為國內學生所寫一系列有關基礎訓練教材的專書,包括視奏、聽寫、樂理等,均成為國內音樂班使用的重要教材。
LIN Chin-Yow, born in 1948 in Pitou, Zhanghua in a family that owns Southern-Fukien Bayin and Nanguan ensembles, has learned to love traditional music since young. In 1988, he received his Master’s degree in music education and went onwards to study music theory and composition in Japan. Lin received awards from the Council for Cultural Affairs for his musical creations Pu Sa Man and Mountain Trip (piano suite). He is also the composer of The End of the World, best animation of the Taipei Film Festival. LIN has spared no efforts in music education with his publication of a series of basic training materials for Taiwan students in score reading, music dictation, and music theory, all of which have become important teaching materials for music classes in Taiwan.
