陳郁秀,鋼琴家、音樂教育家、音樂學者。1949年出生於臺北市,自幼學習鋼琴,師學張彩湘教授。十六歲赴法留學。1975年獲國立巴黎音樂學院鋼琴、室內樂第一獎畢業。1976年返國任教於師大音樂系至2004年退休,演出活動頻繁,未曾中斷。陳郁秀在校曾任音樂系主任及所長、藝術學院院長。1993年創辦財團法人白鷺鷥文教基金會,致力推廣臺灣音樂文化。2000年起陸續擔任文建會主委、總統府國策顧問、外交部無任所大使、國家文化總會秘書長、國立中正文化中心兩廳院董事長等公部門要職,推動臺灣文創產業及各項文化政策。2016年接任公共電視董事長。
TCHEN Yu-Chiou is pianist, music educator, and musicologist. Born in Taipei in 1949, CHEN began studying piano performance as a child under the instruction of ZHANG Cai-Xiang. At the age of sixteen, she pursued further study in France and received her degree from the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris with a first prize in piano and chamber music performance. She returned to Taiwan in 1976 and taught at National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) until 2004. She is continuously active at many performance events. She served as chair of the music department, chair of the music graduate program, and dean of the college of the arts at NTNU. In 1993 she founded the Egret Culture and Education Foundation to publicize Taiwan’s musical culture. Dedicated to promoting the cultural and creative industries and policies of Taiwan, since 2000 she has served the government as a minister in the Ministry of Culture, National Policy Advisor to the President, Ambassador-at-Large, Secretary-General of the General Association of Chinese Culture, and chairperson of the board of directors for the National Theater and Concert Hall.
